
CAMEROON
We originally came to Cameroon in the 1960’s when our LMH’ers in Nigeria crossed the border due to the conflict in Nigeria. We have served in Cameroon ever since. Currently we have one Lay Mission-Helpers serving in the Diocese of Kumbo. Rachel Sybor serves as a Maths & Physics teacher at St. Sylvester Secondary School in Sop.

GUATEMALA
Lay Mission-Helpers began work in Guatemala in 2002. Working with the Maryknoll Fathers in the Apostolic Vicariate of Peten, Mitch Tolbert is in his second term of service. He is assisting in a cross cultural exchange program, as well as serving as a Pastoral Associate in the town of San Francisco.

KENYA
Our Lay Mission-Helpers have been serving in Kenya since 1957. We currently have two LMH’ers, Bud & Sue Ozar serving in the Diocese of Meru. Bud serves as Director of Development in the diocesan offices and Sue serves as an English teacher at a school for street children.

MARSHALL ISLANDS
In 1997 the Lay Mission-Helpers began serving in the Apostolic Prefecture of the Marshall Islands. Aaron & Tara Condon and their sons Ocean & Cana, and Kathy Sheppard are serving in Majuro. Aaron serves as an audio visual technician providing educations tools for the outer islands. In addition, he is working with Marshallese students in producing a weekly Catholic television show for the local cable television station. Tara serves as office and outer island support as well as teaching at Assumption High School. Kathy accompanies the Maryknoll Sisters on outer island visits and serves as a Pastoral Associate.

UGANDA
Uganda was one of the first three original sites for the Lay Mission-Helpers Association. After an absence of nearly 40 years, we have returned to Uganda, serving in the Diocese of Kabale. Jeff & Courtney Caiola and their children Ellis, Marie & Gabriella are serving at Karoli Lwanga Hospital. Jeff is the administrator and Courtney is a Nurse Tutor at the hospital nursing school. Diana Sherrod is also serving as a Nurse Tutor at the nursing school. Marie McGee is also a nurse and serves at Hope Clinic at St. Francis Hospital in the town of Mutolere.
